Public Information, Education and Outreach Programs

The Conservation District is the one state entity charged with the conservation of, and education about, our natural resources.  With a local annual operating budget, made of both state and county funds we are able to keep one full time employee on staff and provide conservation programs/workshops to local farmers and ranchers as well as various education programs for K-12 students and even professional development opportunities for educators.  Most of our public information and education programs are provided free of charge, thanks to the funds in our operating budget. Through our public information, education and outreach strive to create environmentally literate Kansan's for the future. We want to provide resources and experiences to allow current and future generations to understand the importance and value of conservation.

We partner with local schools and organizations to promote conservation of our natural resources and to help promote the number on industry in Kansas...agriculture.  Through many of our public education programs the Franklin County Conservation District is already doing work to encourage a water
conservation-minded Kansas citizenry as outlined in the
"Vision for the Future of Water in Kansas."
